Katrina Olson, content creator and influencer, with her team of passionate volunteers were in the process of organizing the inaugural Canadian Fashion Film Festival that would take place in Calgary, AB. They were in need of a graphic designer to create materials for their festival such as a printed program, and media package, and various other things that came up along the way. I was honoured to offer my services and to be apart of an energetic team working on such a fantastic initiative and help bring their visions to life.

Project Beginnings

One of the first graphics I had made for CANIFFF were these festival wreaths that would display all of the different nominations and awards available. They wanted a maple leaf motif that echoed other festivals graphics. They were very happy with how these wreaths turned out and would be the first of many materials that I’ve created for their festival.

Event Poster

When I joined the team at CANIFFF, the only marketing material they had on hand was a text logo with a pink embellishment of the letter “F” which would become the main colour used for their festival.

They had a beautiful image of CANIFFF friend, model, influencer, Ania Boniecka that would be used for the event poster and face of the festival. After several different concepts and iterations, this is the final event poster.

The poster would then be adapted to various formats for use in print and digital advertising materials.

Social Media Marketing Materials

Along with the poster, the team also needed some bright, catchy social media graphics that would be shared on Instagram and Facebook. These are a few of the images that were used in promoting the festival and building a recognition on their social networks.

Snapchat Custom Geofilter

The event would take place over a weekend in July of 2016 and would be held at several different venues in downtown Calgary, the Glenbow Museum, Hotel St. Germaine and Theatre Junction Grand? The team was interested in creating a custom Snapchat Geofilter that could be used at these venues during the event.

Festival Bumper Animation

This is a simple looping logo animation that would be used as bumpers between showtimes throughout the festival.

Conclusion

I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to work with Katrina and her team in bringing the very first Canadian Fashion Film Festival to a reality. It was amazing to be able to use my abilities to create a wide variety of materials to be used for the festival.
